Anlässlich des diesjährigen New York Voices Vocal Jazz Camp hat der Amerikaner Greg Jasperse einen Song zur Thematik #BlackLivesMatter geschrieben: NAMES. Er wurde innerhalb einer Woche von uns Teilnehmenden auf der digitalen Audio-Workstation Soundtrap aufgenommen. Musikjournalistin Nena Wagner hat quasi über Nacht ein Video dazu erstellt. Die Noten des A-Cappella-Arrangements sind per Mail erhältlich – wenn man mindestens 50$ an eine Organisation spendet, die sich für Belange farbiger Menschen einsetzt.

“Names” was written to continue bringing awareness to the countless Black lives lost to police brutality and racial violence, not just in America but the world over. My hope is that this piece will one day soon be obsolete, that we will have no names of which to sing. Until that time, I hope “Names” can bring awareness, education and an opportunity for growth to choirs and audiences alike. “Names” is available for purchase to anyone who donates $50 or more to any organization that lifts up or benefits the lives of Black people anywhere in the world.
